Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Project

Kolibri volunteers and board members are dedicated to the principle that all students deserve a change to achieve their dreams to the best of their abilities.  That is why we are working to develop an array of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects that will help to inspire, motivate and educate our nation's future leaders to pursue these fields.  We are currently seeking secondary and post-secondary educational institutions to partner with for a variety of projects.  We are also seeking corporate and private sponsorship of such projects as well as volunteers from professions that are related to such projects.

Examples of project ideas include but are not limited to:
-Design, construction and testing of a remotely operated vehicle capable of survey, documentation and/or light recovery work at depths beyond the range of human divers

-Design, construction and testing of an autonomous underwater vehicle to allow more rapid and complete surveying of search areas especially during times when weather conditions do not permit manned operations.

-Design, construction and testing of an underwater magnetometer "tow fish" to allow detection of metal on the bottom during searches

Many of these projects- as demonstrated by the included links- will provide opportunities for regional or national level competition for student teams.  This can bring attention and respect to schools that otherwise may be seen as undeserving of such accolades.  Such a response may, in turn, help attract funding that could benefit schools beyond the project teams.

Are you a teacher or school administrator interested in partnering with us?  Are you a professional who would like to mentor students? Would your company like to support our efforts?  Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we can discuss how our team can work with you!
